That's why I feel so devastated about it because it's not just another cancelled game, but something that could've easily brought forth a new pop culture zeitgeist the likes of A New Hope's release back in 1977. It would've brought both old and new Star Wars fans alike together. It isn't just a remaster, it's a reminder of how great kotor was and what it offered to the Star Wars community. Think of how many people have been waiting for this remaster because of their love for both Star Wars and KotOR. I just think it's a grave tragedy to cancel such a celebration of a Star Wars milestone. Many popular game franchises like FFVII and Resident Evil, I'm glad for their remakes and remasters so that I could get a chance to see what the big deal is all about in all new shiny graphics, but kotor is unfortunately off the list.Īnd look, even if we put aside the fact that 'you could just play the original kotor,' this was supposed to be a massive, massive tribute to one of the most well-written Star Wars lore. I wanted to experience one of the greatest Star Wars stories ever told in HD/4K graphics. So hopefully, we could get a new release date down the line. Alright, look, my kneejerk reaction aside, if it at least has a delayed release date, I'd be fine with that. I've been waiting for this remake FOREVER! Christ! But maybe I just don't care about Star Wars stories in general for whatever reason. I assumed I didn't get into KOTOR back in the day partially because it had a slow start, like RPGs often do. Honestly, mostly the same with James Bond (right down to my main exposure to the movies being bad ones from 20 years ago), I just like the quality games to come from it, and its a good IP for games. I mostly just like Star Wars aesthetically, and it did lead to quality games.

I kinda liked the Prequel movies growing up, but my movie taste growing up was awful so that means nothing. Disney failing is objectively good (much as I like animated films and.parts of the MCU), and watching all this drama lead to a meaningless trash movie was a delight. I gotta be honest, trying to slowly watch the original trilogy finally (movies too spoiled for me to especially care about, is what I found out), failing to watch TFA all the way through, between two years of TLJ internet drama made the utter failing of ROS glorious.
